Hi all, Tommi Ahvala tells me that he is to be on the Two Wheel Tuesday show with Greg White on Tuesday, March 23. So be on the lookout for some more good stuff on TV, I hope we've got Greg White hooked.
We're working on them for coverage of theng rounds of the nationals. Also trying to pursuade Ian Smith to do a DVD on the Trials Training Days happenings and the Nationals the following weekend. So we'll see, I'm twisting all the arms I can grab ahold of. Send Ian an email and tell him how much you like his DVD's. Michael Meschede is also gonna be here, but I think he's planning to ride. Maybe he'll film one day.
Hope to see many of you at TTC in about 3 weeks.

You mentioned GOOD STUFF, well I don't really think you can call our up coming TV show good stuff. No big steps or zaps, only a family enjoying each other around all types of motorcycles including trials bikes. It does tie in Matrix and the other shows Debbie does however, plus the kids fly around the shop a little on some gagits.
Nothing like American Chopper the #1 rated show of cable TV. Ratings is what it's all about in the TV business. People of all walks of life like American Chopper, it's men with PMS. It's also given the chopper industry a huge boost in sales.
TV and magazine coverage of our sport is vital. Why trials in the 70s was so popular is because it was covered in all the major Motorcycle magazines and newspapers. Today it's the hidden sport.
It's great to see people like yourself trying so hard to bring Trials out of the closit! So many are trying to keep trials a secret. |

It would be very interesting to a lot of people to see the youth nationals on TV also. If people knew there was an alternative to youth MX a lot of parents might bring out their younsters to a safer place to compete.
The trouble I've found with top rider exhibitions and Pro riders being spotlighted on TV is people look at what they ride and think I could never do that! They think it's cool but way beyond what they would want to try. So they never think of trials as something they could ride because the exhibition stuff is so spectacular.

must say i totally agree with you mohammad,ah i mean mich its like the people that go out and buy their kids a 600lb atv because they think it is much safer than a motorcycle only to have it roll over and crush little johnny, than they realise that the 125lb motorcycle might have been the smarter thing to buy them.trials at the champ level just looks so impossible to the non trials rider and they think well i will never be able to do that,i might as well buy me a yz 250, it will be much safer than the trials bike btw if mike meschede is going the the ttc,you can bet his cameras will be rolling riding or not.if you get a chance to see mike, stop and introduce yourself, hes a great guy. |

Bagger, I've got a funny story about trials and the general public. There is an insurance company that covers motorcycle events that Bill Markum used to use for his ITS trials.
They went to Bill's website and saw all the pictures of guys riding over these huge rocks and cancelled his insurance. It looked way more dangerous than MX or flat track in the pictures.
Bill had to go back and get AMA insurance that was more expensive! |

ya know what, when i was a kid my best friends dad took me to a trial and when i asked my mom if i could ride she did not realy want me to but let me go anyway, after attending a trial at motomecca in pa a year later, she said to me im glad you like to ride trials.she had watched the motorcross that was going on at the motomecca mx track next to the trials site and it scared the hell out of her.its funny how her atitude changed towards trials after watching mx for her first time |

Know what you mean Bagger, we were at one of Bill's trials that used to be organized at Perris raceway. Which happens to be where Jeremy McGrath got his MX start!
We rode there for years and it had fantastic rocks but parking was very tight. So the owners were constantly bulldozing more and more rocks under to create more and more parking.
Finally the Southern Califorina flat track assn made a deal with Parris raceway and created a half 1/4 mile oval which required the bulldozing under of the last few great rock sections on the property.
One of the last events there before we had to move, a medivack helecopter flew in to pick someone up. The poor 16 year old rider died a few days later. Standing by the track watching from one of our sections I can't tell you how many 10, 11 and 12 year old riders I saw them cart off the the hospital. It was scarey as a dad! Yet it was the trials people that lost the insurance not the MX guys, go figure.
